TyTek Calls For Police Protection

In Germany, there were tragic scenes during a routine traffic stop when two police officers lost their lives in Kusel in the Rhineland-Palatine district in south west Germany.

Two police officers, a 24-year-old female and a 29-year-old male police officer, were fatally gunned down this morning (January 31st) during a traffic check near Kusel early this morning, police in Kaiserslautern said in a statement.

Forces were at the tragic scene but several suspects are thought to still be on the run. At least one suspect is believed to be armed.

A spokesperson for the West Palatinate police headquarters said: "The deceased are a 24-year-old colleague and a 29-year-old colleague.

"It was a normal patrol, a road check.

"The colleagues were able to radio that shots had been fired.

"We are currently talking about several perpetrators.”

Talking to German outlet SPIEGEL, the spokesperson added: "Their colleagues are affected, they know each other.

Germany has strict gun control laws which limits what kinds of firearms are legal and who can carry them.

The prime minister of Rhineland-Palatinate, Malu Dreyer said: "Our thoughts are with the relatives and colleagues of the Rhineland-Palatinate police.

"The act is appalling. We are very upset that two young people have lost their lives on duty."

Germany had a firearm related death rate of 0.99/100,000 people last year - 12 times less than that in the US, but four times greater than the UK.

This latest gun-related tragedy portrays just how fragile the safety of our first responders can be. This is why our first responders deserve to be equipped with life-saving medical equipment that can be worn on their uniform for ease of access.

Recent medical research has revealed that there is a Platinum ten-minute period after a mass casualty incident or an incident seen in Germany today. If you can react effectively in this time you will be able to save lives. TyTek developed the PTENSYS (Platinum TEN SYStem) range to meet emergency preparedness challenges head on.

PTENSYS is a next generation ‘insurance policy’ that prepares you for virtually every emergency care situation and is literally an ‘out of the box’ duty to care strategy.
