Over 330 mass shootings in the US so far in 2023 - action needs to be taken now!

We are halfway through 2023 and the US has seen a shocking number of mass shootings throughout the year already. A mass shooting according to the Gun Violence Archive is considered as least four people being killed or wounded in an incident. Whilst it’s a very unfortunate state of affairs, it’s key to highlight these events and the importance of having appropriate first aid training and access to life-saving equipment. We hope for action as soon as possible to reduce these horrific events, but in the meantime we at TyTek Medical are here to educate, equip and empower all who are witness to a traumatic medical event.

Kansas City mass shooting leaves 3 fatalities and many more injured

On Sunday morning (25th June 2023) Kansas City Police Department officers responded to a scene at 57th Street and Prospect Avenue at 4.30am local time. One of the mothers of the victims told The Kansas City Star that her son was struck by a stray bullet hours after he celebrated his 22nd birthday with friends and family. She performed CPR until the police arrived. “It wasn’t enough to save him,” she told the newspaper. She also told the newspaper that her son was just in the wrong place at the wrong time, as they had recently moved from Kansas City to Blue Springs to escape the threat of gun violence, however the stray bullet still tragically took his life.

Family members have identified the victims as Nikko Manning, 22, Camden Brown, 27, and Jasity “Jas” Strong, a mother of two who had turned 28 the day of the fatal shooting. Five additional shooting victims were taken to different hospitals by ambulance or private vehicle and are believed to have injuries that are not life-threatening. - kansascity.com

We are sending our thoughts and prayers with all of those affected; we sincerely pray for change to reduce these senseless attacks from happening. Kansas City Police Chief Stacey Graves said: “People start out at such an escalated point that if there’s a disagreement or an argument or anger, some people in Kansas City are just too quick to reach for guns.
